Course description:

The Access to Higher Education course provides an alternative route to university for adults without the formal qualifications or traditional academic background required for entry to a degree level qualification

Programme objectives:

To provide university entrance requirement for the students chosen course.

Course content:

Choice of four subject modules from the list below relevant to the university course to be taken.

Biology
Chemistry
History
Law
Psychology
Sociology
English
Maths for Life Sciences or Maths for Physical Sciences*
Physics*
*GCSE Maths at C or above is required for these subjects

Teaching methods:

A variety including research, lectures and practical work dependent on the subject

Course assessment:

Variety including presentations, essays, reports and exams dependent on the subject.

Entry requirements:

GCSE Maths at C or above for Maths for Life Sciences, Maths for Physical Sciences and Physics

Suitability:

Access to Higher Education is aimed solely at those wanting to go onto university and is accepted by universities for their courses.

Additional information:

Most universities required Maths and English GCSE at C or above. Primary Education requires General Science GCSE grade C as well.
