Vocational Intermediate
The Intermediate Vocational Pathway allows you to focus on the career area of your choice and develop the knowledge and skills that employers will be looking for.
You will have the chance to choose a course that fits in with the strengths you have developed at school and with your future plans. Courses usually last for one year and you will need a number of GCSE passes at grade D or above to qualify.
The pathway includes a wide range of vocational courses in the following areas:

| Students choose one of these courses and add GCSE re-takes, usually in the core subjects of Maths, English or Science. Most courses are BTEC Level 2 Diploma courses. These courses are made up of six units and are assessed entirely through coursework. This means that you will have a good idea of how well you are doing as you go through the course and get some opportunity to re-submit any work that does not reach pass standard. Your BTEC will involve 12 sessions a week, leaving you time to add courses in English, Maths or Science to widen your options at the end of the year. If you have already achieved C grades in these core GCSE subjects, a number of other GCSE subjects are available to complete your programme. Where Next?Success on these courses will give you 3 options: A further course at College, Employment, NVQ training and/or an Apprenticeship. |
