 6ACS         Apprenticeship in Customer Service

For those who deal with people and the process of customer service this includes units of the Customer Service NVQ Level 2 to best suit your job role.  You also take a technical certificate in customer service and the workplace and Key Skills in Application of Number and Communication.  You work with a tutor/assessor who will guide you and give you feedback.  You work through support material and complete assessments for each unit.  Your assessor will visit you at work every two weeks.  S/he will be flexible and fit in with the needs of your employer and with your job.

6AHC           Apprenticeship in Hospitality & Catering

If you work as a professional chef and wish to gain an internationally recognised qualification this course could be for you.  You will keep a portfolio of evidence covering preparation, cooking and finishing basic meat, fish, poultry and vegetable dishes, personal health and hygiene, communication skills and teamwork, health, safety and food hygiene in the workplace and Key Skills.  You will need to attend a weekly half day programme at the College.  Assessment takes place both at College and in the workplace.  You will need a full set of professional chefs whites including a pill box hat and a basic professional knife kit.

6C3EDH        EDEXCEL Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma – Hospitality

This course provides a broad-based introduction to the variety of services provided by hospitality organisations, offering you the opportunity to develop the skills required for success.  You will undertake a variety of projects and tasks to develop both team working and individual skills in both practical and classroom based environments.  One day seminars with leading organisations such as P & O Cruise Lines, Chewton Glen and TGI Fridays, provide a perfect learning environment, as does our own quality restaurant, MJ's, which will enable you to gain valuable hands on experience of the preparation and service of food and drink, as well as developing customer care and a variety of related business skills.  You will be assessed using a range of methods - projects, verbal presentations, assignments, case studies and seminars, as well as by observation in the operational areas.  You will be required to complete 18 units during the 2 year programme to achieve this qualification, including subjects such as Customer Care, Business Operations, Team Leadership, Food & Drink Service, Contemporary Cuisine, Marketing and Event Management.  An integrated key skills programme also supports your development on this programme.

6C1DPC         Food, Beverage & Professional Chefs' Diploma level 1 & level 2

The course is designed for students who wish to gain a high degree of craft skill in the areas of Food Preparation and Food Service. The emphasis is on learning practical skills and related theory.  The majority of student’s progress to the second year of training but year 1 is a complete course on its own and you will achieve a diploma in food and beverage service and professional cookery, some students choose to leave at the end of this phase. In year 2 you study for a professional diploma in Food preparation and Food service.
