 6SAB         AS/A level Biology

Biology is an exciting and relevant area of science which is currently experiencing huge growth!  An introduction to biology, including disease the digestive system and gas exchange system is followed by a study of the great variety of living organisms.  Investigative and practical skills are also assessed.  In the second year, we study populations and environment (including how humans affect the planet's ecology), leading on to an investigation of control in cells and organisms (homeostasis and genetics), together with more practical skills.   A variety of teaching methods are used including formal lessons, working in groups, practical and fieldwork.  Assessment is through written examination and practical work.
