Sport is an integral part of life at Brock, whether as part of the College curriculum or our within our extensive Sports Academy and non-competitive enrichment programmes.

We have a diverse range of A level and vocational sports courses at all levels, which give students the opportunity to learn sport in a practical and applied environment while our Academy allows students to continue with their academic studies and improve their performance on the pitch.
6SAPED AS/A level Physical Education
This course is designed for well-motivated students who have an interest in expanding their knowledge in all aspects of sport. Students may progress to degree courses at university or for those who wish to go into employment. It provides an understanding for not only the importance of exercise and activity to their personal, social and mental health and well-being; but also for improving their sports performance.

6ASEF Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (Football)
This Level 3 apprenticeship lasts 2 years and enables you to develop skills and knowledge to perform at the highest level with the goal of becoming a professional footballer. Teaching methods vary but centre around classroom based activity or practical work with fellow students. You do coursework assignments for BTEC qualifications and build portfolios of evidence for the key skills and NVQ. You complete multiple choice exams, written case studies, practical assessments, portfolio assessment and regular homework assignments.

6C2DS EDEXCEL Level 2 BTEC Diploma – Sport
This practical work-related course introduces you to the sports industry. You will take the following compulsory units: The Sports Industry, Health, Safety and Injury and Preparation for Sport, together with three optional units. These will be The Body in Sport, The Sports Performer and Sports Leadership Skills. A number of the units are supported through residential visits to eg leisure centres and Alton Towers. Assessment is continuous based on assignment work for each unit.

6SN2A NVQ 2 Sport, Recreation & Allied Occupations: Activity Leadership - Aim version
This course is ideal if you wish to start a career in outdoor adventure activity centres or sports coaching in leisure centres. It focuses on preparing and running activities an outdoor activities centre. You will also take qualificaitons in personal development for the outdoor industry, working with children and first aid. You will prepare for awards such as canoeing, walking group leader, high ropes instructor and mountain bike instructor. Assessment is by maintenance of a logbook and portfolio of evidence and completion of a block of work experience.
6SSLA Sports Leader Awards (Enrichment)
Aimed at students who have an interest in sports coaching, teaching or leadership, this course will teach you how to plan, organise and lead sports activities in a range of sports. There will be the opportunity to achieve a First Aid qualification and you may be able to work towards coaching awards in sports such as basketball, rugby, football and netball. Learning is through practical sessions supported by theory sessions.
