With no two lessons the same, you will have the opportunity to build a portfolio of work in purpose-built Art Studios whilst investigating techniques and theories through a variety of workshops, lectures, gallery visits and research projects. On completion of your course, you will also have the chance to display your work to hundreds of visitors in the annual Graduation Show.
A level 3D Ceramic Art offers the opportunity of developing your creative 3D Art skills further through clay and ceramic exploration. If you enjoy; designing and making towards a 3D outcome, problem solving, working with 3D form and shape, experimenting and developing your work into 3D form this could be the right course for you. This is an exciting area of study which relates to Historical and Contemporary culture world wide.The course is nationally recognised as an academically relevant course of study, combining well with Science, Technology and other Art and Humanity subjects.Art History is studied through theoretical and practical class based work, allowing students personal and independent choice from a range of given stimuli such as Architecture, The Human Form, The Environment, and Conceptual Thinking.The course develops Critical and Contextual thinking and is dependent on study visits to Museums, Art Galleries and Architectural landmarks.Assessment is by written examination and the assessment of practical skills.Candidates for this subject need not have studied Art and Design at GCSE, however, a confident level of attainment in English Language GCSE is required.
The key to this subject is the development of a personal portfolio of practical work.This may be produced in any two dimensional medium including drawing, painting, mixed media and printmaking.Emphasis is upon research, observation and the development towards a final piece of work.Drawing skills will be fundamental to this process.The course explores themes relevant to contemporary artists eg the environment, based on a visit to a local place of interest.You will also be required to carry out research into an aspect of personal interest in the arts.At the end of the course an exhibition of your work is assessed.
The aim of the course is to develop all skills of creative, investigative, practical and interrelationships within the graphic design industry. The topics will include typography, illustration, photography, advertising, packaging and some multi media skills which are essential for the industry.
Textile design is a dynamic and exciting subject area that will appeal to students who are interested in fashion, textiles, costume and interiors. This course enables you to develop your creativity in textiles and fashion allowing you to experiment with many different processes such as freehand machine embroidery and screen-printing, whilst building a portfolio of work that will enable you develop your skills as a designer. All techniquies and skills are taught through practical demonstrations; therefore no experience of textiles at GCSE required.

The BTEC Level 3 Diploma is a qualification for people who wish to follow careers in Art and Design. This qualification offers you a choice of routes into Higher Education and employment. The BTEC Level 3 Diploma is the equivalent of 2 A Levels.
