Vocfest 2008

This year saw the third and biggest ever Vocfest event take place in the grounds of Brockenhurst College from 31st March-3rd April. The event was organised collaboratively by Brockenhurst and Totton Colleges and was once again declared a huge success by the organisers, employers and students. Each day was themed into a subject area and there was a large selection of well known local and national employers with interactive stands and workshops in which students could participate.

Vocfest is designed to meet a need for students and employers to engage for students to ‘gain a window into the world of work' and employers to interact with students to promote their industry with a view to reducing local skills shortages. Rather than taking students to employers this is a way of bringing the employer to the student!

Many of the workshops were ‘hands on' and students were able to actually experience a wide variety of skills whilst gaining some valuable advice and guidance along the way. Vocfest is a really great chance for students to widen their educational experience in ways in which they would not normally get the opportunity and for employers to network with students and each other.
