Brockenhurst student tames Dragons

June 2007 Sixth Form news
Brockenhurst College students recently took part in a ‘Dragons Den' style business pitch as part of their BTEC National Diploma course.

Students were tasked to come up with a theoretical idea for a business, carry out market research and put together a full business and financial plan to present to a panel of local business people for their appraisal.

Panel judge and Director of The Wow Company, Peter Czapp, is used to giving out no-nonsense, straight forward advice to his clients. He said: "We enjoy working with businesses to develop their vision and it's great to see our clients grow as a result. We took part in the event to try and inspire students to start their own businesses and I was seriously impressed with the exceptional standard of their presentations - the students had definitely done their homework."

Brockenhurst student John Carter was singled out by Peter Czapp for the level of detail and professionalism put into his combined gardening and house cleaning business presentation.

John enthused: "It's a great feeling to know my idea has got the backing of a professional businessman and it's definitely a confidence boast that I did so well.I have already done some gardening work over the summer and I did a lot of market research to make sure my idea was viable. I am now looking forward to studying Business Management at the RoyalAgriculturalUniversity in Cirencester and possibly starting my own business in the future."
