Free time

As part of your College experience you will learn independence and how to manage your free time in a friendly and supportive environment. You may want to get down to some serious studying in the LRC in between classes, decide to explore the local village and enjoy the beauty of being in the heart of the New Forest, chill out with friends in the Hard Brock Café, or learn how to windsurf on our Enrichment programme.
 

Enrichment

Enrichment windsurfing The Enrichment programme offers you over 60 activities including Choir, Christian Union, Duke of Edinburgh Award, French, Dance Styles, Kayaking Club, LAMDA, Life Drawing, NARS Pool Lifeguard Award, Orchestra, Photography and Yoga.

Many students take part in sport at Brockenhurst on a non-competitive basis and Enrichment is a great way to get involved in the sports that you love. Sports include American Football, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Squash and Rugby. You are also able to use the outstanding sporting facilities available and may like to get involved with the Personal Training Enrichment.

Studying: Learning Resources Centre

The Learning Resources Centre (LRC) provides a light and spacious environment for studying.

On the ground floor you will find books, magazines, videos and information packs to help you with research for assignments. The Internet is freely available, together with a number of Internet-based information services to which the LRC subscribes.

There are over 100 study spaces in a variety of areas including a separate silent study area, a quiet study zone and 4 group study rooms. Self-service photocopiers, a TV/Video and DVD player and a wide range of multimedia CD-ROMs are also available. Stationery, tapes and discs can also be purchased from the LRC.
The Information and Learning Technology (ILT) Centre is on the first floor of the LRC. There are a large number of computers available and a further 70 study spaces. A booking system ensures that you can plan your work ahead. Staff are on hand to help you with using the software and assist with research using printed and electronic resources. Colour printers, scanners and a CD copying facility are also available in the ILT Centre.

Eating: Hard Brock and Little Brock Internet Café


The Hard Brock Café offers a two storey social area where you can relax and meet up with friends. The Café provides a wide variety of hot and cold meals, quick snacks, drinks and ice creams.

A coffee bar offers Cappuccino, Latte, Hot Chocolate, Mocha and iced drinks such as Caramel Iced Latte. The ground floor is a very popular choice for many students, with MTV and a variety of hot meals including healthy and vegetarian options. The top floor has a juke box  enabling you to listen to music of your choice and offers cold meals such as sandwiches and wraps. There are also vending machines serving snacks and drinks at all times. 

The new Little Brock Internet Cafe is also a great place to relax with friends while surfing the web, checking your emails,or catching up with some work on sixteen flat screen PC's which are fully integrated with the College network. You can also grab a quick snack here or meet for a coffee with friends.

The Hard Brock Café is open from 8.00am – 8.00pm Monday - Friday.
Food is served at the following times:
Ground floor: 8.45am - 3.30pm
Coffee Bar: 9.00am - 4.30pm
Top floor: 10.00am - 3.30pm
