Welcome to Brockenhurst College
Travelling to college
There is detailed information which is updated on a regular basis and covers ordering bus or train passes, collecting your passes, payment options and a range of frequently asked questions. Please refer to this section of the website
Ordering of travel passes
Availability of passes for students for the first week of term can only be guaranteed if orders have been completed and payment made by 1st August 2011. If an applicant/ student does not opt to take up a place or continue at the College, a full refund will be made as promptly as possible. Passes should be ordered by this deadline even by those who are unsure about coming to Brockenhurst College to avoid delays in the availablity of passes. This is particularly important with our Rail Passes which take some time to be ordered via South West Trains during peak times.
This year for the first time, much of this information will be available for completion on line by logging into our Applicant Portal follow the links to New Students or Parents of New Students.
In order to help spread the cost of travel passes, we offer a series of payment options, as detailed in our “Guide to Student Travel and Financial Assistance 2010-11”, which can be downloaded from this area of the website. The 2011/12 Guide to Student Travel outlines the opportunity to spread Bus or Train Pass paments over four instalments per period (two in total) on an interest free basis.
Payment via Direct Debit
The easiest and most secure way to pay for a travel pass is via Direct Debit. Over 1300 of these plans were set up for students travelling to the College in 2010/11.
Payment options are:
• One single payment prior to starting at college, with an Early Bird discount of £30 for those paying in full by 1st August 2011
• Payment via two payments (September to end of March 2012 & April to the end of the college year)
• Payment by 8 instalments – August through to March with payment collected on the first working day of the month.

Collecting new travel passes
All students should have received a blue temporary bus pass in their admissions pack in August but it is not essential to have one of these as passes will not be checked until the week commencing 26th September, allowing time for all passes to be issued to students who have ordered them. Issue of Bus ID passes will commence on Monday 19th September from the SEC on the top floor of M Block.
If you are travelling by train, you should buy a return ticket on your first day at college, just in case your pass has not arrived.. You need to have sent in (or bring with you) a passport photo for us to make up your Rail ID Card for South West Trains.
Car Parking
All students should purchase a car/motorcycle parking permit if they wish to bring a vehicle onto the college site. They must also self certify that they have valid insurance, tax and an MOT certificate if required. Car park permits will be checked from 19th September onwards.
Attendance
The Attendance Team use a state of the art registration system which helps you to keep on top of your attendance ensuring that you finish College with the results you hoped for ,and if applicable, don’t miss out on any weekly grant payments. You and your parents can easily view this information online via our website and Parents Portal. For more information contact the Attendance Team (details on downloadable contact form ).

A guide to ordering lockers
We have three sizes of lockers available for students to loan during the academic year-standard, sports & helmet lockers. The cost is £7 for the loan and £7 as a refundable deposit in case of damage, loss of key etc. If students wish to share a locker they can do so by paying for one deposit and £7 for each key supplied. Locker keys can be paid for and collected from the Student Information counter at any time during Term Time.
Assisting with lost property enquiries
The most common items of property lost by students are memory sticks, mobile phones and coursework folders and any item handed in to a member of staff is normally placed with the Reception for safe keeping. If you lose anything try to re-trace your steps to see if it is still there and if not report to reception. If you leave items on the College bus or a South West Train go to the Student Information Counter and the team will assist where possible. Unfortunately we cannot be held responsible for any items not recovered
