INFORMATION FOR  STUDENTS AND THEIR PARENTS/GUARDIANS

SPRING TERM (2012) TRAIN PASSES

Spring term train passes will be ordered from South West Trains on 1st December. Passes will be ordered for all students who had Autumn Term passes. You should let the Student Information and Travel Team know if a pass is NOT required.    Passes will be available for collection between Friday 9th December and Friday 16th December. Students travelling to College with their Autumn passes are likely to be caught and fined by the Revenue and Protection team who will probably be active on the trains during the first week of the new term.  Any student who is unable to collect their pass before the Xmas break is strongly advised to buy a daily ticket and collect their pass on their first day back at College in the New Year.   To collect a new train pass, students must bring their Rail ID card with them to the Student Information Counter in Student Services.  Train passes for construction students will be co-ordinated by Lynne Hughes the Student Support Officer who is based at Marchwood but who visits New Milton Skills Centre on a regular basis.   Train passes for Ultima students will be delivered to the Centre for students to collect. In order to collect new passes, payments must be up to date or any outstanding payments settled at the point of collection.

Bus Passes    These will not be re-issued until later in the academic year so current passes will be valid after the Xmas and New Year break.

Important information: Students travelling by train must have their college train pass/rail ID card or a valid daily ticket at all times.  Students not in possession of these, or passing on their own pass to others are likely to be prosecuted by the Revenue Inspectors for South West Trains, as with any other member of the travelling public as it is a criminal offence to travel without a valid ticket. Regular checks are carried out on the trains and at Brockenhurst and other stations on our route.  Please note that our train passes are "Scholars Passes" and can only be used during the standard college term dates (from 6th September for the beginning of the term) and times.

Parking Permits: For students who plan to travel by car, application forms for a Parking Permit can be found in Student Services.  An annual parking permit costs £15 and the charge reduces to £10 from 1st January 2012.  Students must certify that they are in possession of valid insurance and MOT documents and must agree to the Terms and Conditions on the application form to be issued with a permit.  Cars parked without a valid permit are likely to be clamped.

All student car drivers should enter/leave the site via the North Road entrance and not the main college entrance.

Queries: Please direct any queries about travel arrangements or payments to the Student Information Team on 01590 625555 ext 468 or 376 or 533 or e mail studentservice1@brock.ac.uk
