'Outstanding' Ofsted Report
The 2008 Report once again confirms the College's work to be of 'outstanding' quality and the College to be one of the very best in the country. In 2009 inspectors confirmed the College's outstanding status.
Inspectors said: "Acheivement and standards are outstanding...students are encouraged to have high aspirations and are well motivated and self-confident."
Beacon Status
The coveted Beacon status was awarded to the College in October 2004 by the Department for Education & Skills for excellence in Teaching and Learning.
Analysis from ALIS
Around 1,000 schools and colleges subscribe to ALIS (A Level Information System) run by Durham University. Its 2008 report finds that students at Brockenhurst achieved better results than would be predicted on the basis of their GCSE grades. It also provided information on students' attitudes to College. For the eighth successive year, a much higher proportion of Brockenhurst students than the average in other schools and colleges say the atmosphere at the College is good for students, that they are treated like adults and that they would advise other students to come to the College.
Centres of Vocational Excellence
We are recognised as a national Centre of Vocational Excellence in Applied IT for Business, Early Years, Playwork and Children's Services and Leadership and Management. We also lead a South East region Centre of Vocational Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality.
Matrix
We have held the Matrix standard since 2004 for our excellent Information, Advice and Guidance service for students. In 2007 we achieved the Matrix Excellence award in recognition of our outstanding work. Brockenhurst is one of very few colleges in the country to have achieved accreditation for all areas of its College provision.
Judges said: "The College has used imaginative ways to embed the Matrix standard across the whole organisation, both strategically and operationally, which has transformed not only its IAG delivery, but its entire customer service approach."
