Information, Advice, Guidance and Support Services

We offer a range of services to current and potential learners at our centres around the New Forest and to our customers in the workplace.
We Aim To:
- Enable you to maximise your chances of success by choosing the most appropriate options in learning and at work to suit your needs
- Support you during your learning/training with specialist advice and guidance in all aspects of learning and work
- Help you to progress in learning and at work by developing your ability to learn, develop transferable skills and gain new qualifications
- Help you to develop lifelong career management skills to assist you in making choices now and in the future
- Meet the needs of employers by providing information and advice related to business training needs
- Promote and support equality of opportunity by provision of services to meet the needs of all, regardless of ability, age, gender, sexual orientation or ethnicity
We Offer:
- Initial information, advice and guidance on learning options, qualification pathways, support with learning, funding, childcare and travel
- On-going information, advice, guidance and support on learning and work issues through personal tutoring, assessment, counselling and support services, careers events and resources and through access to specialist organisations such as Nextstep
- Information, advice and guidance on progression routes including Further/Higher Education, employment, volunteering and work-based learning
We Will:
- Maintain and publicise up to date information on all of our course programmes and support services
- Maintain up to date, relevant careers resources on a range of post 17/18 and adult options, including access to IT based careers packages - located within the Learning Resources Centre on the Brockenhurst site
- Use trained and experienced staff to provide personal advice
- Respond to all enquiries promptly, within 5 working days as a maximum
- Refer you to other learning providers and specialist organisations such as Nextstep, Jobcentre Plus etc.., if we are not able to meet your needs in full
- Offer our services in accordance with national guidelines and standards in information, advice and guidance - see section on National Principles

- A range of open events at local events, at our centres and at outreach locations, including partner schools
- Telephoning or emailing one of our main centres - see contact details below. Drop in and book appointments with one of our team of advisers
- Referral from one of our partner organisations such as local schools, the Youth Support Service and the Next Step adult IAG service
- Tutorial Programmes (for full time students)
- Learning and Work resources in LRC (library)
- On-site Youth Support Service (for 14-19 year olds) and Next Step Service for adults (booking required)
Feedback on our services:
We regularly seek feedback to ensure that our services are continuously developed and improved. If our services do not meet your expectations, we aim to try and resolve any concerns informally at first. If the matter cannot be resolved through these channels or if you are not a student of the College, please write to the Principal explaining the issues and giving as much detail as possible. You will receive an initial response, in writing, within 5 working days.
