About us

At Brock we are a high-achieving college that attracts around 3,000 Sixth Form students from across our region each year. Our main campus is in Brockenhurst, Hampshire, inside the New Forest National Park.

We offer learners the widest range of A Level and Vocational courses available locally, with all lessons delivered by expert teachers who are empowered by the latest equipment and facilities. Destinations for post-16 learners generally include university, an apprenticeship or employment.

We have two satellite campuses: Marchwood Construction & Marine Technologies Training Centre and the Ultima Beauty and Complementary Therapy Training Centre in New Milton. Both provide a range of work-related Sixth Form programmes thanks to industry standard facilities.

Meanwhile, we give adults the ability to gain meaningful career progression through professionally accredited courses such as AAT Accounting and various teacher training options. Furthermore, we provide a range of Access to Higher Education courses, as well as Higher Education programmes in Early Years Education that are accredited by the University of Chichester.

In addition, we offer around 100 Adult Leisure and Learning course options at community hubs across the wider New Forest area. Highwood Nursery on our main campus delivers childcare and Early Years Education services to staff, students and the wider community.

We recognise that people are our most important asset. As a result, we aim to provide an attractive benefits package and positive employment experience. With that in mind, here is a breakdown of the main advantages associated with joining the Brockenhurst College workforce.

Our academic pay scale has bespoke pay ranges for both unqualified and qualified staff. Appointment to a pay scale always takes into account the skills and experience of the successful candidate. Please note that all pay ranges provide for annual incremental progression. The qualified teacher pay spine provides for progression to additional discretionary pay points. Unqualified teachers will be provided with access to training, enabling them to gain the appropriate teaching qualifications. Annual increases to the pay sales are determined by the Corporation each year, with such increases taking effect from 1 August each year.
Our professional services pay scale has bespoke pay ranges, allowing for appropriate recognition depending on the grade of the post. The majority of our pay ranges give annual incremental progression, with some roles having fixed spot-point salaries. The management pay spine allows scope for progression to additional discretionary pay points. Annual increases to the pay sales are determined by the Corporation each year, with such increases taking effect from 1 August each year.
Employees automatically become members of the appropriate pension scheme – unless they choose to opt-out. Academic staff are enrolled into the government’s Teachers’ Pension Scheme. For Professional Services staff there are two schemes, one of which will apply. These are the Local Government Pension Scheme or the NEST scheme. If the NEST scheme applies, this will be indicated on the job description/person specification.

At Brock we offer generous annual leave entitlements. Academic staff benefit from 37 days’ leave plus Bank Holidays (pro rata for part-time staff). Professional Services Staff benefit from 25 days’ leave plus Bank Holidays (pro rata for part-time staff), rising to 30 days after five years’ service and 32 days after ten years’ service. In addition, we offer up to five days’ leave during the Christmas closure period.

Professional Services staff have an option to purchase further leave through our Annual Leave Purchase Scheme.
As well as providing a supportive environment, we have a completely confidential employee support and counselling service, which is free to all staff. It provides assistance should you have any personal or work-related issues. The EAP maintains a 24/7, fully-confidential phone line and has a website and app giving access to a range of advice and guidance.

Employees can refer themselves or others for counselling if they are experiencing problems or difficulties at work and/or at home. Through this service we are able to offer short-term, focused counselling up to a maximum of six face-to-face sessions. Counsellors can provide information on local support groups and organisations dealing with issues such as bereavement, bullying, domestic violence, finances and accommodation.
