Traineeships

Traineeships

Are you looking to gain access to employment or an apprenticeship but feel you lack the skills or knowledge to be able to do so? Do you want to broaden your experience within the workplace? then a Traineeship may be for you.

A Traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience that unlocks your potential and prepares you for your future careers by helping you to become ‘work ready’.

If you’re aged 16-24 and aspire to become ‘work ready’, then a traineeship could be a great step towards enhancing your employability and improving your skills in vital areas such as maths and English.

Entry requirements

  • Unemployed, or work fewer than 16 hours per week and have little work experience but are motivated to work.
  •  Have no qualifications above GCSE or equivalent.
  • Aged 16-24.
  • Leaving school or college.
  • Willingness to learn.

There is no required entry level for English or Maths as you will have the opportunity to gain skills in these areas during your Traineeship.

What will I learn?

Traineeships provide the opportunity to take part in a work placement to give you meaningful work experience, develop workplace skills, and create links with an employer.

During the Traineeship, you will learn about the following areas:

  • Effective communication
  • Interview skills
  • How to search for a job
  • How to work as part of a team
  • How to live a healthy lifestyle
  • Planning for your progression
  • Health & safety

Progression

It will give you the confidence of having operated in a real work environment and you can get your maths and English to the required level.

Upon successful completion of your Traineeship, you will be equipped to progress onto an Apprenticeship which unlike a Traineeship, will provide you with a salary whilst you learn.
