Adult Ballet – mixed ability

Adult Ballet – mixed ability

Course Details

Adult Ballet will be taught by Susan Tyne. This class is for all ballerinas with or without previous knowledge or experience. If you are over 18, love ballet and want to find your inner Pavlova, Fonteyn or Nureyev, then this is the class for you.

Ballet will improve your posture, balance, coordination and mobility while strengthening muscles you never knew you had. I am sure you will leave each class feeling taller, lighter and brighter in mind and body. All this and more will be possible while listening and working with your body.

In class, we will work through a warm-up Barre, explore Ports du Bras, Centre Practice, Adage and for those of you who want to, Allegro. If you are new to ballet, please do not be put off by the terminology, it will all become clear in class.

Information & Support

Clothing should be comfortable and enable ease of movement, while allowing the line of the body to be seen so that safe practice can be maintained and for full benefit to be achieved. Please wear layers to allow for warmth and coolness. Ballet shoes are best or bare feet (if the floor is suitable). Slipper socks/soft flat shoes are acceptable.

Please seek the advice of your medical physician if you are receiving or have had any recent treatments or are in doubt about any condition that you may have that could affect participation.

Additional courses and workshops will be offered throughout the year giving learners the opportunity to further develop their skills. Please see the current Leisure Courses brochure for details.
