A level 2 qualification can be a requirement for employment and some higher education courses, as well as providing access to a GCSE Maths course.

Course Structure & Teaching Methods

Within entry level maths you will learn to use and apply mathematics in practical tasks, in real-life problems and within mathematics itself, focusing on number, shape, space and measures, and handling data.

A level 1 qualification will include:
Representing and analysing situations mathematically
Interpreting solutions to problems using mathematics
Coverage of mathematical content in number, geometry and statistics

A level 2 qualification will include the above plus:
Coverage of mathematical content using algebraic formulae

Teaching methods include tutor-led sessions, tutorials and discussions, plus individual, paired and group tasks.  In addition, you can access the dedicated College e-learning site which offers additional resources and support.

The assessment is through a 45min-1.5 hour external paper-based assessment taken within a controlled environment. This assessment will take place during specified examination windows as agreed with your tutor.
