Exploring Art – All Abilities

Course Details

Through weekly/fortnightly creative exercises we will explore new concepts and build on previous knowledge and skills in areas such as colour mixing, observational drawing/painting skills, composition, perspective, tone and light.

Week 1 – Autumn Harvest – Students will explore the seasonal palette and forms of autumn vegetables.

Week 2 – Feathers – Experiment with various mixed media to depict the pattern and form of feathers.

Week 3 – Seashells – Looking at a variety of natural forms, discover ways of creating natural tones and palettes through colour theory and technique.

Week 4 – Local Scenes and Landscapes – This activity will focus particularly on using and mixing landscape colours.

Week 5 – Butterflies and Beetles – experiment with watercolour and other art materials to capture the unique colour, pattern and beauty of the subject.

Information & Support

Art materials required: pencils, pastel chalks, charcoal, watercolour/gouache.

What do you define as a 'beginner'?

Beginner is someone who has little or no knowledge of the subject area.

Intermediate is for those who have completed a beginners course with us or have some knowledge of the subject but would like to learn more.

Students need to be 19 years old or over.
