Course Details

Experiment with different techniques and media to stimulate your creativity.

Understand composition and improve techniques with acrylics and oils -using techniques such as sponging,  glazing , colour washes, stippling, colour mixing and using texture with pastes.

Previous use of your medium is necessary.

A structured week by week course encouraging students to grow and expand their skills. A new subject or theme will be chosen fortnightly using a combination of still life and photographs.

Group activity in a relaxed and informal studio setting – one to one guidance within the class.

 

Information & Support

Suitable for those with some experience who want to build on their knowledge of painting with oils and acrylics.

What do I need to bring to the course?  

All acrylic/oil paints you may have
Please bring own ‘supports’ i.e. paper/canvas etc.
Easels and boards are available to use in the studio.

Please note that A1 and A2 sheets of drawing paper are available to purchase at the Centre.

Courses are run continually, and you will be able to join these to further develop your skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any age restrictions (young/old)?

Students need to be 19 years old or over.

There is no upper age limit.

Can I start the course part way through?

For some courses, this may be possible.  Please contact leisurecourses@brock.ac.uk to confirm.

What do you define as a 'beginner'?

Beginner is someone who has little or no knowledge of the subject area.

What do you define as 'intermediate'?

Intermediate is for those who have completed a beginners course with us or have some knowledge of the subject but would like to learn more.
