Exploring Art – All Abilities

Course Details

Through weekly/fortnightly creative exercises you will explore new concepts and build on previous knowledge and skills in areas such as colour mixing, observational drawing/painting, composition, perspective, tone and light.

During Week 1 – Autumn Harvest – you will explore the seasonal palette and forms of autumn vegetables.

During Week 2 – Feathers – you will experiment with various mixed media to depict the pattern and form of feathers.

During Week 3 – Seashells – you will look at a variety of natural forms and discover ways of creating natural tones and palettes through colour theory and technique.

During Week 4 – Local Scenes and Landscapes – you will focus on using and mixing landscape colours.

During Week 5 – Butterflies and Beetles – you will experiment with watercolours and other art materials to capture the unique colour, pattern and beauty of your subject.

Information & Support

Art materials required comprise pencils, pastel chalks, charcoal and watercolour/gouache. Additional courses and workshops will be offered throughout the year, giving you opportunities to further develop your skills.

What do you define as a 'beginner'?

Beginner is someone who has little or no knowledge of the subject area.

Intermediate is for those who have completed a beginners course with us or have some knowledge of the subject but would like to learn more.

Students need to be 19 years old or over.

There is no upper age limit.
