Course introduction

Counselling is a fast-growing healthcare sector that provides opportunities for employment across diverse settings, including: private practice, the NHS, and the charitable sector. You will learn from practising counsellors who will know and understand all the latest guidance on moral and ethical practice.

Teaching & learning

Your teachers will draw on the latest research and established academic theory through a variety of Blended Learning methods. These include direct teaching, seminars, problem-solving sessions, and activity-based learning.

Minimum entry requirements

To apply to enter at Year 3 you will need a diploma in Counselling and at least 100 placement hours, plus 120 Level 4 credits and 120 Level 5 credits (usually from your diploma). You will also need to pass an interview and an enhanced DBS check.

What can I do with this qualification?

Once you have achieved this qualification you could become an accredited counsellor, providing you meet the requirements of individual accrediting bodies such as BACP. You might also wish to seek opportunities working as a counsellor in organisations, such as: schools, colleges, the NHS, youth groups and private companies. Further training may be required.
