Our Gas Foundation course is a BPEC accredited programme that will help you to enter the gas industry as an engineer.
This course is designed for people who are new to gas or who already hold a recognised qualification in mechanical engineering.
As a student you will learn at our new state-of-the-art gas facility at Marchwood, where you will find your training both challenging and rewarding.
At Brock we are committed to upholding the highest standards of preparation for work as a gas engineer. This is because gas can be extremely dangerous if dealt with incorrectly.
As a result, qualified gas engineers carry a considerable weight of responsibility. They also enjoy good rates of pay.
Course Structure & Teaching Methods
Throughout the programme you will gain comprehensive knowledge and skills from recognised gas experts who will give you individual tuition across 20 units.
You will undertake both theoretical and practical assessments to demonstrate that you are competent to enter the gas industry.
This includes 35 days in college alongside practical training under the supervision of a Gas Safe registered installer.
Importantly, you will also complete a candidate portfolio that will evidence your progress.
Your training and portfolio together will enable you to collect your Gas Foundation Certificate.
This document then qualifies you to undertake your Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) assessment, which will make you fully qualified.
You will be able to enter the gas industry as an engineer upon gaining this certificate plus your further accreditation under the ACS regime.
Your ACS must normally be reacquired every five years.
After a period gaining experience through regular work you may wish to start up your own company as a gas installer, possibly employing other engineers.
