Buildings in Pen & Wash

Course Details

You will learn the fundamental skills of painting landscapes in acrylics but will also have the opportunity to explore more adventurous approaches.

Composition will be studies and you will explore a limited palette and experiment with various applications of paint (thin washes, various textural approaches, impasto etc.

Handouts will be available for the various techniques. 

The tutor will demonstrate various techniques throughout the day.

Information & Support

Please bring with you:

  • 2B Pencil & eraser, pens - bring whatever pens you have (fine liner, biro, fountain pen).

The following would be useful:

  • Fine liner pen available from art shops or stationers, these can be waterproof or soluble and come in different line thicknesses.
  • Biro – black and/or blue.
  • Fountain pen and cartridges or dip pen and bottle of fountain pen ink.
  • Brushes – Watercolour brush minimum size 6.
  • Paper – Watercolour paper (280gsm) pad or sheets – work in the size you feel comfortable with
  • Watercolours – small set of watercolours.
  • Suitable visual resources will be available however, you may wish to bring your own.

Additional courses and workshops will be offered throughout the year giving learners the opportunity to further develop their skills.

Are there any age restrictions (young/old)?

Students need to be 19 years old or over.

There is no upper age limit.
