This programme has been designed in partnership with employers to enable you to achieve a nationally-recognised qualification while carrying out work tasks effectively.

Over 12 months you will undertake a wide range of tasks in a variety of work contexts. 

Importantly, you and your employer will choose a selection of units that best fit the business and job role.

The units encompass a wide range of business and administration tasks, including: producing documents, storing and retrieving information, managing social media and organising and reporting data.

Teaching & learning

Your assessor will visit you in the workplace regularly to complete assessment plans and reviews with you to keep you on target.

He or she will also support you in collecting the evidence needed for your qualification through different assessment methods, such as: professional discussion, observations, written questions, verbal questions, witness statements and assignments.

Training structure

This apprenticeship comprises six separate components. You must as achieve all parts to gain the full Level 2 qualification.

You will choose a selection of units that best fit your job role. The units encompass most areas of business and administration from greeting customers at reception, to minute-taking, solving business problems, analysing data and project management.

The NVQ Certificate also includes mandatory units covering managing your own performance, evaluating and improving performance, as well as working within a business environment and communicating in a business environment.

Minimum entry requirements

  • GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or above.
  • Functional Skills Maths and English will be included in your programme if you have not achieved at least GCSE grade 4. 
  • You must be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week. 

How will I be assessed?

Your assessor will visit your workplace approximately once every three weeks for around two hours. This time may be spent working under observation, completing learning tasks, and acquiring feedback on what you have done.

You will be expected to complete work before the assessor’s visits. This will be a mixture of assignments and learning, which will help you develop both the practical and theoretical skills required to work effectively.

Information & support

You will need a computer and internet access to follow your programme and be able to access the appropriate learning resources.

What can I do with this Apprenticeship?

Job roles might include administration assistant, database clerk, junior secretary and clerical assistant.

Once you have completed this programme you may wish to embark on a Level 3 qualification to progress your career.
