Course introduction

Course description:

Individual, flexible support and assessment for would-be Internal Quality Assurers familiar with NVQs or QCF qualifications.  Internal Quality Assurers with D34/V1 can update their qualifications with the new standards.

Programme objectives:

To achieve a certificate in Internal Quality Assurance you will need to pass all the required criteria of the qualification.

Course content:

You will be supported to develop the skills and the theoretical underpinning of quality assurance and portfolio building. You will be invited to an Induction session at which you will be given details about the content of the award and be allocated with an Assessor.

Teaching methods:

You will be expected to attend individual sessions on agreed dates. A target date for completion will be agreed with your Assessor.

Minimum entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements.  Students should have a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths OR be able to demonstrate their ability to write at an appropriate level to complete assignments at Level 3.  An initial assessment may be conducted prior to commencement of this programme.

You will need to have qualifications in the vocational area you will be quality assuring and be experienced on assessment.

You must have occupational competence in the vocational area you want to work in and have two vocational assessors to monitor.

How will I be assessed?

There are no exams but you will have to build up a Portfolio of evidence of your quality assurance skills which will be assessed by your Assessor then submitted to Internal Quality Assurance of the programme.  You will be observed in the workplace and have regular contact with your Assessor.

There is a requirement to achieve the knowledge component that will involve research and hand-written or word processed assignments.
