This course is for photographers who want to learn more about the controls of their camera and what it means to be in control to take the picture how you want to take it, not as the camera wants to take it. This is the start of your journey into creative photography. This course follows on from Discover your Photography or is suitable to students who have already mastered the fundamentals of digital photography.The course will mainly focus on shooting out on location along with some image editing in Photoshop. Photographic assignments will be selected around the major interest of the students, genres such as: abstract, architecture, landscape, macro/close-up, nature, portraiture and still life. This will allow you to put techniques into practice whilst learning the shooting specifics of a variety of photographic genres. Chosen topics will be discussed, a shooting plan developed based around how to shoot i.e. camera settings, composition, lighting to include the use of on and off camera flash etc. Half day field trips will be orgnised on either a Saturday or Sunday (depending on the majority view of the class) allowing you the opportunity to practice your skills further.
Course hand-outs will be available to assist you to practice the tools and techniques learnt at home.
Information & Support
Please bring your digital camera with charged batteries, memory card and instruction manual, along with any other photographic equipment you may have that could be useful such as a tripod, reflectors etc. A charger and/or USB cables will also be useful if you have them. As will a USB memory stick if you wish to save your edited images.
You will also need a note book and pen, additionally please bring something to keep assignments/hand-outs and photographs in.
