Course introduction

An employer must still appoint a person to take charge of first aid provision, if a First Aider is not legally required. This course provides you with the necessary knowledge to do so.

This course is suitable for individuals, lone workers or employees of smaller, low risk organisations.

Course structure

The course is classroom taught with an accredited, qualified and experienced tutor. 

This course covers the basics of first aid according to the first aid regulations, specifically it will cover:

  • Assessing the casualty
  • Unconsciousness
  • Injuries to bones, muscles and joints
  • Eye injuries
  • Poisoning
  • Choking
  • Client specific subjects including diabetes, epilepsy, allergic reactions etc.
  • CPR
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Burns and scalds
  • Shock management
  • Exposure to cold and heat
  • Illness assessment

How will I be assessed?

Assessed continuously throughout the course - no testing.

Information & support

You will be required to bring a pen and a notepad. You will be provided with a comprehensive visual handbook and Emergency Reference Manual. 

Please wear comfortable clothing and trousers are advisable.
