Course introduction

If a First Aider is not legally required, an employer must still appoint a person to take charge of first aid provision, and this course provides that person with the necessary knowledge to do so. This course is also ideal for individuals, lone workers or employees of smaller low risk organisations.

This course covers the basics of first aid according to the first aid regulations, specifically it will cover:
Assessing the casualty
Injuries to bones, muscles and joints
Eye injuries
Client specific subjects including diabetes, epilepsy, allergic reactions etc.
Wounds and bleeding
Burns and scalds
Shock management
Exposure to cold and heat
Illness assessment

Course structure

The course is classroom taught with an accredited, qualified and experienced tutor. 

Minimum entry requirements


You will need to bring a pen and a notepad, a comprehensive visual handbook and Emergency Reference Manual is supplied and will cover all the information necessary. Students should also wear comfortable clothing and trousers are advisable.

How will I be assessed?

Assessed continuously throughout the course - no testing.
