Engineers are fascinated by questions relating to how and why things work. They use their training in mathematics and science to understand the world around them and to design products and systems, solve problems and benefit society.

They will usually become involved in some aspects of testing, maintenance, design or manufacture. They are self-motivated and resourceful, and learn to communicate effectively and work well as part of a team.

Engineers characteristically have high levels of job satisfaction as well as good levels of pay.

This Apprenticeship training will equip you for the exciting and diverse world of engineering. It will build on the mathematics and science you have already studied and develop new knowledge/skills in areas such as engineering materials, manufacturing, milling and turning, CAD project management.

Minimum entry requirements

GCSE grade C in at least four subjects which should include Mathematics, English, and a Science or a BTEC level 2 Diploma in Engineering with a Merit profile.

Students must also demonstrate a positive attitude to learning and developing within the Engineering industry.

How will I be assessed?

You will learn in our industry standard workshop and an appropriately equipped classroom.

Each mandatory unit will be assessed by an on-line multi-choice test.  For other units there will be practical and written exams.

Information & support

This qualification is appropriate for anyone who is employed with an Apprenticeship in the Engineering industry.

You will gain a thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering, / technical support.

This qualification can help you develop the skills for a career in Engineering; the pathway you choose will be agreed from your duties within the work place/job title. 

Units will typically be chosen from :

Apprentices who are working in an area of manufacture, especially in areas of milling and turning. We also do CAD for future development in CNC manufacture.

Apprentices who are working in an area of support in an engineering company, design office, R & D, quality or direct dealing with customer requirements.

What can I do with this Apprenticeship?

There are many progression opportunities open to a successful apprentice. These qualifications can help you to progress in a number of engineering roles across a wide range of industries and commerce, or on to higher education/apprenticeships.
