Course introduction

For people who wish to gain a thorough general first aid qualification entitling them to be recognised as First Aiders in their workplace.

Emergency first aid procedures and general first aid to cover the wide spectrum of incidents that may occur in the workplace. Topics include:
Assessing the casualty.
Unconsciousness.
Injuries to bones, muscles and joints.
Eye injuries.
Poisoning.
CPR.
Wounds and bleeding.
Burns and scalds.
Shock.
Casualties overcome by gas or fumes.
Transportation of casualties.

 

Course structure

The course is classroom based with an accredited, qualified and experienced tutor. 
 

Minimum entry requirements

No entry qualifications are required.

You will need to bring a pen and a notepad, a comprehensive visual handbook and Emergency Reference Manual is supplied and will cover all the information necessary. Students should also wear comfortable clothing and trousers are advisable as there is floor work included in the training session.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is by practical examination and a short multiple choice question paper.
If successful the student will receive a First Aid at Work certificate, which is valid for three years.
