Course Details

This class introduces students to the basics of everyday French.  Students learn common greetings, how to describe places and their location, the French alphabet and fundamentals of pronunciation.

The course will cover the following areas in a very simple way:

Basic Social Contact
Personal Identification
Home
Family
Work
Using Basic Services
Shopping
Food and drink
Health & Welfare
Basic Travelling
Directions
Tourist Information
Buying tickets
Booking accommodation

The sessions will involve pair work, group work, games, listening, speaking, reading and writing all in a relaxed and confidence building atmosphere.You will be given a small amount of homework to consolidate your learning.

 

Term starts: Tuesday 20th September; 19:00-21:00; 30 weeks

Information & Support

This course is aimed at absolute beginners in French who want to acquire a basic knowledge of the language in order to communicate in certain practical situations.  Students will learn and practice fundamental language skills, helping them develop basic communication, coupled with a secure understanding of the essentials of life in this country.

You will work from a textbook (recommended at the first lesson) or photocopies.

Courses are run continually, and you will be able to join these to further develop your skills.
