Course Details

The aim of this interesting, informative and enjoyable course is to nurture inspirational ideas from the students which would enable them to put together a creative design for their own garden.

How to measure and take a survey of a garden. How to choose a style and scheme of a garden. Which type of hard or soft landscaping materials to use. Drawing up the garden design. How to put together a planting plan, incorporating some finishing touches.

 

Information & Support

This course is suitable for anyone interested in learning how to go about designing a garden.

What do I need to bring to the course? Tape measure, A4 notebook, pen, pencils, black felt-tip pens, eraser, compass for drawing, set square, protractor, circle template, metric scale rule (to include 1:1, 1:50, 1:100, 1:200), masking tape, string and photographs/pictures of the garden/area they wish to design.

Are there any age restrictions (young/old)?

Students need to be 19 years old or over.

There is no upper age limit.

Can I start the course part way through?

For some courses, this may be possible.  Please contact leisurecourses@brock.ac.uk to confirm.

What do you define as a 'beginner'?

Beginner is someone who has little or no knowledge of the subject area.
