Course introduction

Are you passionate about working in the health sector? Do you want to practise at a higher level with more responsibility? Perhaps you would also like to study at a higher level in the future.

Level 2 Health and Social Care have enabled scores of motivated and dedicated learners pursue their goals and aspirations for the future.

Within our Early Childhood and Health department you will be taught by a highly qualified team. Many of our teachers hold higher level degrees and have a wealth of experience as professionals in health and social care settings.

Furthermore, we have strong links with employers and can provide unique work experience opportunities that support your ambitions and goals. We have also been recognised for our excellence in teaching by the Pearson Edexcel awarding body.

Teaching & learning

During your studies you will benefit from modern teaching methods such as blended learning and flipped learning.

Computer technology will play a leading role in enhancing your academic and practical skills. Meanwhile, other learning initiatives include: class debates, peer reviews and engagement with clinical research.

Your work placement is a key component of the course and will bring greater meaning to your classroom learning. It will also give you valuable experience.

Course structure

  • Study aspects the human life span and human development, giving you fundamental insights.
  • Explore a broad range of health and social care values, giving you a heightened awareness of important issues.
  • Develop your skills of communication and also understand the significance of effective communication in healthcare.
  • Learn about the importance of nutrition when it comes to health and wellbeing.
  • Enjoy working within a team to support ideas that lead to good health and social care practice.
  • Prepare for a successful career in a health and social care setting.

Minimum entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade 3 and above to include:

  • English Language

Information & support

You will need to be available for one day of work experience per week.

A DBS check will be required.

What can I do with this qualification?

Once you have achieved success on your course you may decide to seek an apprenticeship opportunity in health and social care to gain further professional experience.

Alternatively, you may wish to proceed straight onto a Level 3 vocational course. This will not only make you more qualified, but will open the prospect of applying to study a healthcare subject at university.
