Course introduction

You can improve your IT knowledge for a range of job roles by taking part in one of our programmes, which are designed for various abilities.

Course structure

Essential Digital Skills (Entry 3) (48 hours)

The Essential Digital Skills qualification is designed to help you build on existing basic IT skills and enable you to confidently use IT devices and digital services essential for life and work. The programme will comprise:

  •  Digital foundation skills
  • Being safe online
  • Creating and editing
  •  Digital communication
  • Transacting digitally

Essential Digital Skills (Level 1)

This course represents a progression option if you have successfully completed the Entry 3 qualification and wish to enhance your skills and knowledge. It is also suitable for learners who already have basic digital knowledge and skills.

Basic IT (Entry 3) (21 hours)

The Basic IT course is designed to help you learn the basic operating functions of the computer, including:

  • Word processing and file management
  • Spreadsheet creation
  • Presentation
  • Internet and email

Information & support

Eligibility:

  • Must have ID (Passport/Driving Licence/Birth Certificate).
  • Must be unemployed and claiming benefits (JSA / ESA / UC / IS).
  • Must be 19+ (at the start of the academic year).

Suitability for Essential Digital Skills courses will be ascertained through a diagnostic assessment.
