The Level 3 Diploma in Massage will enable candidates to gain the practical and theoretical skills necessary to provide massage treatments for the purposes of relaxation and stress release.
Learners will study – Unit 380 -Provide Body Massage for Complementary Therapies. Also included is Unit 383 – Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies which is essential in order for students to recognise the benefits of massage to each system. Learners will also cover Unit 384 – Principles and Practice of Complementary Therapies and Unit 385 – Business Practice for Complementary Therapies.
Course Structure & Teaching Methods
There is a balance between classroom based theory and practical work. Learners will massage each other.
The course requires learners to provide evidence of 20 treatments along with16 case studies.
Practical -There will be an external examiner for the practical assessment of Unit 380.
Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies -1 hour multiple choice on-line examination.
Principles and Practice of Complementary Therapies -Assignment.
Business Practice of Complementary Therapies -Assignment.
Learners will be internally assessed by their Tutor throughout their training.
Information & Support
You will be required to bring along to the first class - pens, A4 pad and an A4 file in order to store notes.
Learners will also be expected to provide and wear professional tunic and trousers in black throughout their training - please contact New Milton Centre for a uniform order form.
Please note:- at the interview there will be a sample of the various sizes of uniform for learners to try on if unsure of the correct size to order.
Advice will also be given on the recommended ITEC text books e.g.
An Introductory Guide to Anatomy & Physiology £17*,
An Introductory Guide to Massage £19.00* (*approximate prices)
During the first session you will be advised as to what equipment/books you will need to purchase.
Learners will also be required to purchase towels, couch cover, pillow, face ring, oil.
If learners wish to take the opportunity to obtain a Basic First Aid qualification which will be offered during the course there will be an additional fee payable (please check with the New Milton Centre) .

Once candidates have achieved the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Massage Techniques, they may progress on to other ITEC or equivalent awards at Level 3, for example:
- On Site Massage
- Lymphatic Drainage Massage
- Sports Massage
- Thai Massage
- Infant and Child Massage
- Healthy Eating and Well Being for the Complementary Therapy Client
This award qualifies graduates to operate their own clinic or home visiting practice. Graduates can also gain employment in Health Clubs, Clinics, Spas, Salons, Cruise Ships, Retreats and Recreational Centres.
