Course Details

This course references historical and contemporary work and practice, working directly from models, including reference to anatomy.

The course includes instruction, demonstration and practice of all the formal elements of drawing, and the use of a range media, and their application to drawing and painting portraits.

You will learn and develop new skills, and demonstrate them using this important and iconic subject.

Teaching through practical activities, demonstration, group and one to one tuition, discussion, and sharing ideas.

For those with little or no experience, and those hoping to improve existing skills.

What do I need to bring to the course?

Bring what you have including B pencils, A2 drawing pad to the first class.

Additional course costs:

Model fee is included
Advice will be given at the first session on equipment and materials needed.

Please note that A1 and A2 sheets of drawing paper are available to purchase at the Centre.

Courses are run continually, and you will be able to join these to further develop your skills.

Are there any age restrictions (young/old)?

Students need to be 19 years old or over.

There is no upper age limit.

Can I start the course part way through?

For some courses, this may be possible.  Please contact leisurecourses@brock.ac.uk to confirm.

What do you define as a 'beginner'?

Beginner is someone who has little or no knowledge of the subject area.
