PAVE is all about giving you the opportunity to gain formal qualifications at GCSE level over one year so you can progress to further study in the following year.
You can study up to six subjects, including English, Maths and Science subjects.
You will also be able to undertake a work placement, giving you valuable work experience to add to your CV.
PAVE learners come from a variety of backgrounds.
It is popular with people who have been home-schooled and those who have taken a break from education and now wish to pick up where they left off.

Teaching & learning
All your teachers will be subject specialists who know how to break your learning down into manageable chunks.

As a student you will:
- Have the opportunity to study GCSE English and Maths (or Functional Skills as appropriate).
- Study other GCSEs (Biology, Physics, Business, Psychology) to facilitate progression to a Level 2 or 3 course.
- Undertake a work placement to develop your employability skills.
- Benefit from specialist tutorial and pastoral support to help you develop the skills you need to progress.
- Have the opportunity to undertake a range of ‘Next Steps’ opportunities.
- Take part in a range of Enrichment opportunities and/or join one of our sports academies.

Minimum entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements.
How will I be assessed?
There will normally be a split between coursework and exams.
The percentage weighting of the split may depend on the subject.
There may be practical exams in the Science subjects.
What can I do with this qualification?
Once you have your GCSEs, you can make the step-up to A Level or Vocational courses at Level 2 or 3.
These secondary qualifications will in-turn open doors to higher education opportunities at degree level.
