This course is intended for all those working in the care sector who are involved in moving and handling service users.
Each programme is designed to meet the individual customer’s needs.
On successful completion of the course it is anticipated that you will be able to:
- Outline the extent of back pain and injury.
- Describe the function and shape of the human spine.
- Explain the principles of safe moving and handling.
- Demonstrate, as appropriate, the techniques of base movement, and apply those techniques to typical people handling activities.
The course is delivered on your premises by a ROSPA accredited, qualified and experienced tutor.
You will need to bring a pen and a notepad; a comprehensive handbook is also supplied and will cover all the information required. You should wear loose fitting clothing suitable for practical indoor work.
Assessment is by the tutor on an on-going basis.
Upon successful completion you will receive a certificate of competence from Brockenhurst College.

Assessed continuously throughout the course - no testing.
