Course introduction

To provide a specialist work-related qualification in site carpentry or joinery.

The content of the course is very diverse and challenging to prepare you for work in the industry.  A highly skilled operative is always in demand and the benefit of skills and knowledge will help you become more employable or quite simply able to do tasks you never thought you would have the opportunity of accomplishing.

Course structure

This is a practical work related course.  You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations and activities.

Minimum entry requirements

Literacy & Numeracy at the appropriate level.

For learners who have recently been in education their profile is likely to include one of the following:

  • Multi Skills programme Level 1
  • Level 1 in Carpentry & Joinery
  • Appropriate GCSEs (normally at least 2 passes at grade D or above, to include Maths and English)

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will be carried out as you progress through the course. This will be in the form of online and paper based exams and practical assesements.

Information & support

Compulsory £115 for corporate clothing, safety shoes, text book and classroom equipment.

What can I do with this qualification?

With further training or study, students may progress into careers in the Construction industry or the following courses including:

  • Site Carpentry or Bench Joinery Level 3
  • Apprenticeship in Site Carpentry or Bench Joinery
