Spanish – Beginners

Course Details

Our beginner's level Spanish class introduces students to the basics of everyday Spanish.

Topics include:

  • Meeting and greeting.
  • Alphabet and pronunciation.
  • Numbers and giving your phone number.
  • Saying what you do for a living.
  • Saying where you’re from.
  • Talking about your family and introducing others.
  • Ordering food and drink and paying the bill.

The course is aimed at absolute beginners in Spanish who want to acquire a basic knowledge of the language in order to communicate in practical situations. Students will learn and practice fundamental language skills, helping them develop basic communication and gain a secure understanding of the essentials of life in Spain.

The key skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing Spanish will be practiced in an engaging and supportive way with a range of tasks and activities set during the lesson as well as regular homework involving preparation, grammar or written exercises. There is no formal testing but work and progress will be monitored by your tutor.

What do I need to bring to the course?

Pen and paper.

Practical help and advice is also provided to assist students with any kind of disability or individual need, including people for whom English is not their first language. Please contact our centre staff to discuss your needs prior to starting your course.

Are there any age restrictions (young/old)?

Students need to be 19 years old or over.

There is no upper age limit.

Can I start the course part way through?

What do you define as a 'beginner'?

Beginner is someone who has little or no knowledge of the subject area.
