Course introduction
If you have applied to study with us from September and English is not your first language, then you may be interested in this course.
You will build confidence, improve your English Language skills and learn useful academic terms to support your main course of study. This course is also valuable if you have already studied with us for one year and would like to improve your English before returning for a second year.
Course structure
You will learn common terms used in classrooms and textbooks, plus expressions you will need to know when you choose to apply to a UK university.
You will have an Individual Learning Plan to help you achieve your own personal goals.

Minimum entry requirements
The course is open to students from Europe and to students outside the European Economic Area. Students from outside Europe may join this course, provided they have a UKVI approved English Certificate showing capability of IELTS 4.0. It is recommended that all students wishing to study at Brockenhurst College that have any band below 6.0 join this course to give them the best opportunity for success.
How will I be assessed?
You may apply to take an IELTS test at the end of the course or at any stage throughout your Brockenhurst studies. Our tutors will support and advise you and help you decide
the best time to take your test to make sure you are ready. Our tutors are also experienced in preparing for other English Language tests such as Cambridge, Pearson Test of English and TOEFL.

This course is open to everyone interested in learning academic English, even if you have not applied to study a longer course with us.
