Teaching & learning
The concept of a traineeship is to provide a large sense of flexibility and freedom in the way it is completed, therefore giving the opportunity for your employer to be able to specifically tailor the programme to meet your requirements.
Your traineeship will consist of three main components, these being:
- Work experience placement in an industry or profession suited to you
- Work preparation training – assisting you in writing your CV, developing skills in job searching and practicing interview techniques
- Training in English and maths – to enhance your employability
During the duration of your traineeship, you will learn about the following areas:
- Effective communication
- Interview skills
- Searching for job
- Working as part of a team
- Healthy living
- Planning for progression
- Health & safety
Minimum entry requirements
- Out of work with little work experience
- Aged 16-24
- Leaving school or College
- Willingness to learn
There is no required entry level for English or maths as this is something you will have the opportunity to gain skills in during your traineeship.
Information & support
- There are no fees for completion of a traineeship
- You will not be paid, however some companies may pay expenses such as travel or meal costs.
What can I do with this qualification?
Upon completion of your traineeship, you will be equipped to progress onto an apprenticeship course whereby you can complete a higher level qualification.
Apprenticeships (unlike traineeships) provide you with a salary that is dependent on your age.
At the end of your course, you will gain a nationally recognised qualification which alongside your experience gained as an apprentice, is likely to lead to permanent employment. This may be within the business you have completed your apprenticeship with, or elsewhere depending on the opportunities available to you at the time.
