A BTEC Level 2 First Certificate is a practical, work-related course. This one year vocational course is for people who wish to take an initial qualification and follow careers in one of the many sectors of the travel and tourism industry.
The course is made up of 8 units (including 2 exam units) that all students have to take, here are a few unit titles:
- The UK Travel & Tourism Sector
- UK Travel & Tourism Destinations
- International Travel and Tourism Destinations
- Travel & Tourism Business Environment
- The Travel & Tourism Customer Experience
- The Cruise Industry
Course Structure & Teaching Methods
Your learning experience will be provided through a student centred approach but with specialist teacher input in key areas.
Two of the compulsory units are assessed through one hour written exams which are marked externally. The other 6 units are portfolio based to enable the students to build a working document to take into employment or further study.
Students will also undertake a vocational placement within their year of study.
Information & Support
Students will be encouraged to study additional qualifications including Welcome Host, First Aid, Resort Representatives and RLSS Pool Lifeguard.
A BTEC Level 2 First Certificate in Travel and Tourism prepares you for employment in one of the many areas within the travel and tourism industry. Employment includes holiday camps, travel agents and hotels. It will also provide the opportunity to progress to the BTEC Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism.
