This is a non accredited course, consisting mainly of practical work. It will involve some demonstrations and some activities to participate in. You will be able to learn new skills whilst working on your own furniture piece or soft furnishing project and you will be given advice and instruction on the best way to achieve professional results. You will be given some handouts with information during the course and can build a portfolio if you choose to.
During each session you will be given instruction and observed as you work. You will be able to ask as many questions as you would like and you may take notes as you go.
Information & Support
This course is suitable for anyone who has an interest in upholstery or who would just like to have a go at something different. It is suitable for complete beginners and there will be an opportunity to work at your own pace.
Courses will run continually allowing learners the opportunity to further develop their skills.
Learners may wish to progress to a qualification course - Upholstery City & Guilds.
Although we will have some tools and a full list will be discussed at the first session, it is advisable to bring a pair of scissors, a hammer and a tack remover, so that you are not waiting to use tools.
An item of furniture or soft furnishing project and a notepad / pen and camera would also be useful. The cost of materials is ongoing throughout the course, your tutor will have a ready supply of equipment and materials that you can purchase.
