Word Processing Software – Introduction

Course Details

This is a short course for beginners who wish to learn about word processing software using Microsoft Word.  

By the end of the course, the learner will be able to:

Identify and use a computer workstation and appropriate system software

Use a computers’ system software to create and manage files and folders

Identify and use word processing software correctly to enter text, numbers and symbols accurately

Format basic paragraph and document properties

Create and edit simple tables.

The teaching is tutor led in well equipped rooms with explanations, demonstrations, lectures, question and answer and discussion.  Each learner has the use of a computer. 

The work will be assessed by the tutor on a regular basis from which feedback will be given to help improve skills.

Please bring along writing materials, notebook/A4 file. 

Students can progress on to other software courses using Microsoft software.

Practical help and advice is also provided to assist students with any kind of disability or individual need, including people for whom English is not their first language. Please contact our centre staff to discuss your needs prior to starting your course.

Are there any age restrictions (young/old)?

Students need to be 19 years old or over.

There is no upper age limit.

Can I start the course part way through?

Beginner is someone who has little or no knowledge of the subject area.
