Writing – Creative Writing for Beginners

Course Details

An introduction to Creative Writing.  Learn how to tell great stories for fun and/or profit.  PLEASE NOTE – There will be a maximum of 10 students on the course.

This course will focus on the elements that make up great stories such as believable characters, engaging narratives, and how to use subplots and subtext to take your writing to the next level.

The class will look at writing short stories, novels, scriptwriting and various other forms of media. Students will be encouraged to develop a new or existing piece of work over each ten week period.

Please bring along pen and paper and/or a fully charged laptop.

Are there any age restrictions (young/old)?

Students need to be 19 years old or over.

There is no upper age limit.

Can I start the course part way through?

For some courses, this may be possible.  Please contact leisurecourses@brock.ac.uk to confirm.

What do you define as a 'beginner'?

Beginner is someone who has little or no knowledge of the subject area.

What do you define as 'intermediate'?

Intermediate is for those who have completed a beginners course with us or have some knowledge of the subject but would like to learn more.
