Writing – Creative Writing for Beginners

Course Details

An introduction to Creative Writing.  Learn how to tell great stories for fun and/or profit.

This course will focus on the elements that make up great stories such as believable characters, engaging narratives, and how to use subplots and subtext to take your writing to the next level.  You will look at writing short stories, novels, scriptwriting and various other forms of media.  Students will be encouraged to develop a new or existing piece of work over each ten week period.

 

 

Information & Support

Courses are run continually, and you will be able to join these to further develop your skills.

Please bring along pen and paper.  If writing is to be published, you will need a computer or typewriter. 

PLEASE NOTE - There will be a maximum of 10 students on the course.

Are there any age restrictions (young/old)?

Students need to be 19 years old or over.

There is no upper age limit.

Can I start the course part way through?

For some courses, this may be possible.  Please contact leisercourse@brock.ac.uk to confirm.

What do you define as a 'beginner'?

Beginner is someone who has little or no knowledge of the subject area.

Intermediate is for those who have completed a beginners course with us or have some knowledge of the subject but would like to learn more.
