AIM Psychotherapeutic Counselling Level 5
Course introduction
Counselling is a fast-growing healthcare sector that provides opportunities for employment across areas such as private practice, working with charities and working for the National Health Service.
This programme is designed for learners whose goal is to achieve professional status in counselling. It may also be appropriate for people working in roles where counselling skills are needed. This could include nursing, teaching, social work, the police and the armed forces.
Importantly, you will learn to practise within an ethical framework while developing an understanding of the value of supervision. You will also undertake research and develop a business plan for establishing, developing and maintaining a private counselling practice.
Information & support
At this level you should already be a counselling practitioner with sufficient experience to evaluate the effectiveness of theoretical concepts on individual clients.
Please note that your previous qualifications and experience will need to be assessed to determine whether you are able to complete this course within the proposed timeframe.
The minimum hours required for supervised client work will depend on how many hours you have already recorded at Level 4.

This course will last 20 weeks.
There is a tuition fee of £1,417.

GCSE English – C Grade or equivalent
Level 2 Functional Skills English or equivalent
Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Practice or equivalent (preferably awarded by AIM)
