Art beginners – an introduction to painting in oils and acrylics

Learn how to paint with acrylics or oils using basic painting techniques, which will include sponging, palette knifing, glazing, colour washing and stippling. This is a structured, weekly course that is designed to encourage you to grow and expand your skills. You will begin by drawing, before progressing to painting with oils or acrylics. A new subject or theme will be chosen fortnightly from a combination of still life and photographs.

Please bring an acrylic pad A3 or A4, a set of beginners’ acrylic paints and a couple of synthetic brushes suitable for a beginner.

Course information

This course is suitable for beginners or those who wish to develop their skills and techniques. It will be characterised by group activity in a relaxed and informal studio setting. You will also receive individual guidance from your Tutor.
