Course modules/units
Modules will comprise:
- Monitor Procedures to Safely Control Work Operations
- Contribute to the Planning and Implementation of Promotional Activities
- Provide Body Massage Treatments
- Provide Indian Head Massage
- Carry out Massage using Pre-blended Aromatherapy Oils
- Provide Stone Therapy Treatments
- Provide Facial Electrical Treatments
- Contribute to the Financial Effectiveness of the Business
As a student, you will…
- Develop professional skills in facial-electrical and various massage treatments.
- Perform treatments confidently in a salon environment independently, managing time and sustainability.
- Apply in-depth techniques such as non-surgical facelifts to enhance clients’ results.
- Communicate professionally with clients and provide excellent customer care and retail opportunities.
- Follow health and safety practices to work safely and hygienically.
- Build confidence by working with real clients.
Complete a 35-hour per-year work placement.
Teaching & learning
Expert tutors will bring their extensive experience working in salons and spas, giving you valuable insights into real working environments.
You will also gain hands-on experience with real clients, building your confidence and professionalism.
Ultimately you will gain advanced skills, setting you up for a successful career in the growing beauty, aesthetics and spa sector.
Course assessment
Assessment will be through a combination of practical coursework (70%) and external exams (30%).
Most of your grades will be achieved through ongoing coursework.
To this end, you will complete practical treatments, build a portfolio of evidence and demonstrate your skills during assessor observations.
You will also complete eight externally set exams to test your knowledge and understanding of key topics such as health and safety and client care.
Your 35-hour per-year work placement will count as well.
Minimum entry requirements
Four GCSEs at grade 4 and above to include:
• English Language
• Maths
• Science
You must be at least 16 years old and have completed the Beauty Level 2 Diploma – there will be no direct entry.
What can I do with this qualification?
This qualification can unlock career opportunities in beauty, aesthetics, wellness, make-up and spa.
For example, you could work as a beauty massage therapist in luxury spas, become a skin expert for high-end hotels, or be an onboard therapist on cruise ships.
Or you could practise aesthetics in busy salons, delivering relaxing and results-driven treatments.
You may also progress into specialist areas such as Level 4 treatments such as laser treatment, advanced massage or holistic therapies.
Or you might instead move into salon management or make-up artistry and/or go to university.
Many learners choose self-employment, offering mobile or home-based services in the beginning.
You may soon find you establish a loyal client base and develop a flexible, fulfilling career that can support travel ambitions too.
