Course introduction

A Level Chemistry is a stimulating, rigorous and challenging subject that will develop your scientific skills and knowledge.

There will be lots of opportunities to perform hands-on work in newly refurbished laboratories and gain an insight into the relevance of Chemistry beyond the classroom.

This is important because Chemistry is the study of the substances that make both us and the things around us.

Indeed, if humankind did not understand what substances were or how they work, we could not cure diseases, develop new materials or respond to and correct changes in our environment.

Why choose
Chemistry A Level?

At Brock we ensure you can receive extra individual support if you need it. In fact, we believe this approach has been instrumental in our exam success rates.

Importantly, all teachers are graduates in Chemistry, and have a wide range of both industrial and teaching experience from which you can benefit.

As a student you will also have access to well-resourced laboratories and an open access computer suite.

Teaching & learning

Your teachers will use a variety of teaching techniques including: lectures, practical sessions and demonstrations.

They will also invite visiting speakers from universities and various industries to help put the subject into context beyond the classroom.

Wherever possible your teachers will encourage you to try out new ideas and develop your own experiments as well.

There is a significant written and oral component to the learning experience, which gives you ample opportunities to evidence your new knowledge and skills.
