Computer Essentials Part 1

If you want to learn how to master computing using Windows and Microsoft Office, then this is the ideal learning opportunity for you. By the end of this short course, you will understand:
•    Computer basics including common terminology.
•    Computer performance and features.
•    Operating systems.
•    How to log-on securely.
•    Different mouse pointer shapes.
•    Features of a keyboard.
•    The desktop and its icons.
•    The different parts of a window.
•    Various storage media.
•    Simple document creation and editing.
•    How to search online.
•    How to use email to communicate.
 Please bring along a pen and a notebook.
 

Course information

All teaching will be led by your Tutor who will give explanations, demonstrations and tips, as well as answer questions and chair discussions. Please let us know if you need any additional support or reasonable adjustments – we will do our very best to help. We can also tailor learning materials to suit particular needs.

Importantly, this course can be adapted for people with Apple laptops. In this case, you will need to bring your laptop to class. The College offers a variety of courses to further your skills in using computer software. Please see the current Leisure and Learning brochure for further details.
