Course introduction

Do you love film? Then this is your opportunity to join with likeminded people and explore this captivating medium.

And who knows? This could be the first step towards you being the next Quentin Tarantino, Stanley Kubrick or Kathryn Bigelow.

As a student you will study genres including classic Hollywood, British film, horror movies, musicals and massive blockbusters. But it doesn’t end there…

You will also learn about acting and actors, directing and directors, screenwriting and screenwriters, and special effects.

Plus, our teachers have connections with the industry and even take you to the Oscars.

Why choose
Film Studies A Level?

At Brock our Film Studies teachers combine academic professionalism and seriousness with the infectious passion of excitable film anoraks.

Each staff member is approachable, friendly and always happy to chat about movies.

These experts in cinema have studied film at the highest level and in some cases have worked in the industry.

They are also involved in media production outside the College, making films and vlogs.

Teaching & learning

The Film Studies team works hard to give you a range of learning experiences, including: open debates, guest speakers and trips.

Naturally there will be a lot of viewing involved, including exclusive screenings. As a result, we expect you to pen analytical responses to set questions on a variety of films.

In your second year you will have the chance to visit Hollywood during Oscar week to mingle with the stars and see film studios in all their glory.
